The Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare and Social Care Support Skills qualifications are aimed at individuals in a wide range of work environments where they are required to undertake a changing range or a limited number of Healthcare and Social Care tasks.

This is a suitable qualification for those who are just starting employment in the social care industry or those who are already working as a social care assistant/worker.

The awarding organisation for this qualification is ProQual Awarding Body and the regulatory body is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).

The specification for the qualification has been approved by the Welsh Government for use by centres in Wales and by the Council for the Curriculum Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) for use by centres in Northern Ireland.

The qualification has been accredited onto the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

ASQ will carry out an initial assessment of candidate skills and knowledge to identify any gaps and help plan the assessment.

ASSESSMENT METHOD

Candidates must demonstrate the level of knowledge described in the units. Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification.

You will study a range of key areas of knowledge applicable to working in the sector. These include:

  • Introduction to communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Introduction to personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • The role of the health and social care worker
  • Implement person centred approaches in health and social care
  • Contribute to health and safety in health and social care
  • Handle information in health and social care settings

Each candidate is required to produce a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.

The on-site observation is to confirm competence and that requirements are met through observing candidate normal day to day work activities.

Our NVQs and Trainings are delivered or assessed through a combination of direct observation of performance, professional discussions, professional witness reports and through written assignment completed on provided workbooks

Delivering success

Individuals will be assessed by one of our specialist assessors, all of whom hold relevant high-level qualifications in learning and development and extensive experience in the construction industry
